This index to the 1910 Eau Claire County Atlas (also know as Standard Atlas of Eau Claire County Wisconsin Including a Plat Book of the Villages, Cities and Townships of the County), created in 1999, has several uses:

1. It can be used to locate the property of a landowner/ancestor in 1910.
2. The property description can be used to locate the property and owners in plat books published in other years.
3. This index may be helpful when trying to locate deeds at the courthouse in conjunction with the grantor and grantee indexes and tract books.
4. Since there is no 1910 Soundex for Wisconsin, this index in conjunction with the 1910 Eau Claire City Directory could be used as a guide to the 1910 Eau Claire County Census when one doesn’t know the township or ward to search.(The 1910 plat books contains a ward map of Eau Claire.)

Briefly, it should be noted that each congressional township is divided into 36 numbered sections with each section equal to one square mile.Each section is further divided into half and quarter sections, but this index will not break down the property ownership any smaller than the section.
